- Sabar drumming with Modou Diouf - September 4th - 5th 2010 in Suffolk
Modou Diouf is from the Serre people of Senegal and comes from a long line of griots (musicians). His instrument is the sabar drum - played with the hand and stick. Modou is a patient and experienced teacher, full of charm and enthusiasm. All levels of ability are catered for and you will be amazed at the incredible energy of the music you will create with him.Saturday and Sunday workshops are for all levels.You can book for just one day. Drums available to borrow, but please notify Nigel in advance. 10.30am - 4.30pm
There is a sabar workshop on Friday, but this is reserved for experienced sabar drummers.
Cost: £25 per day, £45 for the weekend

- Djembe drumming with Nansady Keita - September 25th 2010 in Halesowen with Drums Aloud
Nansady is a Guinean djembe-fola (djembe player) and nephew of internationally renowned djembe-master Famoudou Konate. Nansady is considered a successor of Famoudou as a traditional village drummer. Nansady is from the Malinke ethnic group, and comes from Sangbaralla, a village near Kouroussa, in the Hamana region of Guinea. Nansady has performed and taught around the world (USA, Holland, UK, France, Germany, Japan) and toured with Famoudou Konate's ensembles to Japan and Europe. He specialises in Guinean & Malian rhythms and has studied with the world's best drummers in Africa & Europe. Hans is renowned for his versatile teaching methods, comprehensive subject knowledge and the high standards his students achieve. Landing Mane makes learning complicated rhythms seem easy. A workshop leader who establishes an immediate rapport with students, Landing teaches African drumming in a way that allows students to acquire musical skills and knowledge of their West African contexts. Students thoroughly enjoy their experience of working with Landing.

- Djembe drum & dance with Saskia & Adam - December 4th 2010 in Halesowen with Drums Aloud
By popular request, Saskia & Adam return to Drums Aloud following their March debut.
Saskia has been doing West African drumming since 1997. She has studied with Mamady Keita and latterly with the Ballet Bougarabou in Senegal. It is there that she began her study of the traditional Guinean style of dance. She is one of the best UK female djembe players and a renowned teacher in her own right. Saskia plays with Hamana Bjémakan and delivers drum and dance workshops with her husband, Ansoumana 'Vieux' Bakayoko.
Adam plays with Djembe Djinns who have performed at ABC 2009/2010, Drum Camp and many other high-profile gigs and they are one of the best djembe troupes performing in the UK. Adam provides real energy when supporting dance classes and is very helpful and supportive to the support cast of dundun and djembe players.This workshop is for all levels.
