Class Ability Levels: Full-day djembe workshops are definitely not suitable for beginners and inexperienced drummers. They are aimed at those who have experience of regular learning of West African rhythms on djembe/dundun, and who have mastered the basics. You should know and understand the common signals and be able to respond correctly and in the correct tempo. You should be able to play the common djembe support patterns without help, and with the correct handing. You should be able to play a call and able to place it correctly at the right place when the rhythm is running (without assistance). You should be able to play simple parts on the duns (not necessarily with the bell). If any of these cause you problems, please check with Nigel and if more than one of these causes you problems, then you are likely to be out of your depth.
